About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario – CRPO). For over ten years, I have been a member and Clinical Fellow of both the American and Ontario Associations for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT and OAMFT). I am also a member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I started my career as a Chemical Engineer, then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in International Management (PGDIM – MBA equivalent) from International Management Institute, India. Working abroad for 18 years in Oil and Petrochemical industries gave me ample opportunities to know first hand what stress, frustration, anxiety, and depression is all about! It also taught me the value of friendships and relationships, and having that opportunity to “know and be known” as an antidote to the hopelessness one feels in life.

I hold a Master of Divinity from McMaster University and a Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy from Guelph University. I am a firm believer that learning is for life and continue to attend workshops and training programs in various modalities of psychotherapy.  I have more than 15 years of experience helping people cope with crises. This includes many years of pastoral counselling, working in agency settings and for EAP companies.

I have been trained in many therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Person-centered Psychotherapy (Rogerian).  Each one of these models provide specific and valuable insight into my work and informs the choices of interventions I can use for each client.  My mission is to make clients think. Once clients understand the predicament they are in, they gain a higher perspective that would help them see possible solutions to their own problems. They are then ready to embrace the change that would set them free from their problems and worries and thus gain some peace of mind.
